Art Two - paint by number style painting

Paint by number or painting by numbers are kits having a board on which light markings to indicate areas to paint, and each area has a number and a corresponding numbered paint to use. The kits come with little compartmentalized boxes where the numbered color pigments are stored. The users are encouraged to wash the paintbrush every time a new numbered color is being used. The kits were invented, developed and marketed in 1950 by Max S. Klein, an engineer and owner of the Palmer Paint Company of Detroit, Michigan, and Dan Robbins, a commercial artist.

  1. I like color by number because it is a way to unfocus an image. Color by number kits make it easier for the common person to paint, even if they are not an artist. I think that the smaller the sections are and the more colors there are in a piece make it more intricate and more appealing to the eyes. -Annabel Wilson

  2. I like the 2nd picture which is the elephant painting. Even though it is color by number style, it is still very detailed and has distinctive characteristics. i also enjoy the different colors that are in the painting

  3. I like the elephant painting because it made paint by numbers, which is normally seen as a simple painting, more complex by having patterns and movement in the paint.

  10. I really like all of the paintings because i think that it's so cool that the artists can see the singular colors and create painted shapes that form a beautiful picture. I'd have to say that the second one is my favorite because of all of the vibrant colors used.
