Art Two - Non-Objective Painting

Jackson Pollock
“It’s all a big game of construction, some with a brush, some with a shovel, some choose a pen.”   “The method of painting is the natural growth out of a need. I want to express my feelings rather than illustrate them.”  “Every good painter paints what he is.”

Wassily Kandinsky

Hans Hoffman

  4. I love this kind of painting, because there is so much personality without an actually object being painted.

  6. This form of self-expression is very intriguing in the way that the future of the work is in the hands of the artists emotions that day. It is bright, controlled yet uncontrolled, and contains a number of emotional contradictions. Non-objective art is truly interesting in the way that these works are both calming and chaotic.

  11. I like how in these types of paintings you can express your emotion without actually focusing on one object. I also like how you can't really "mess up" on a painting like this because it just adds on to the expression

  12. In the paintings I feel like the people are expressing feeling and not trying to make an exact and clear picture of something. It can mean different things to the different people who look at it.
