2D AP and 2D ART 3 - Stipple

These are three small drawings by Bentlie Grice, Caroline Stroud and Emily Sparks.  They were "sketched" first in Photoshop, transferred to Bristol board then filled in using only ink dots.  The process is called STIPPLE.  It is time consuming but the results can be stunning.

Create a Photshop document that is 8.5x11" (either vertical or horizontal).  Layer multiple animal images.  It can either be from the same type of animal or a totally different one.  You might even add a textured layer for interest.  Keep in mind that these will be only black and white so go ahead and take out the color by going to "Image" at the top of the Photoshop screen and then "Adjustments" then you can adjust the color saturation.  Make sure that your "sketch" had enough contrast too.  You will need lights and rich darks.
