Art Two - Blog 7 - van Gogh landscape paintings

Some of us will begin a landscape painting as a group.  Look at these landscape paintings by Vincent van Gogh.  How are they different than the paintings you are working on now or just finished?

  1. These pictures are different from mine, in that my painting is very specific, with only a couple objects. Whereas these pictures cover a big picture.

  2. These picture are much more realistic than the fauvist paintings I'm doing. While this too is expressive, it's not expressive in the color aspect. Every thing he painted is what the thing would look like if we really saw it in real life. My painting has blue cherry blossoms and a pale green mountain, so how much more different can you get?

  3. The city picture of Van Gogh is very similar to my painting of buildings with light on them; however, his is less detailed and really focuses on the light and color.

  6. Im working on a portrait that focuses mostly on one thing (a face) in the foreground and a little bit in the background as opposed to a landscape that focuses on a lotta things in seemingly one setting.
