Art One - Blog 7 - more Fauve paintings

Henri Matisse (last week's blog) was the most important and influential Fauve painter.  Although he studied to be a lawyer (and was one for a time), he loved art.  He became ill, and during that time, he began to paint.  He never returned to law.  Here are a few more of his paintings.  Later in his life, he developed arthritis so he cut paper because he could not hold a brush.  His collage work is very well known. 

Notice how he uses color.  Which is your favorite and why?

    I like the face one, because he brought out colors that we usually don't see in a face

    I like the one with the fish because unlike his other paintings, it looks much more realistic.

    I like the one with second picture, it is green color, because it looks realiatic.

    I love the goldfish painting because of the colors, reflections in the water, and the simplicity of the brush strokes.

    The middle one is my favorite because I love how the bright orange color of the fish jump out at you, and make you notice them and everything around them.

    I like this style, i like something which is like the nature. His drawing is wild, and i like the wild thing, it is very good drawing.
