  1. I think it's weird how they celebrate the day of the dead. But it's a unique and different way of celebration.

  3. These videos were very interesting and on the verge of being disturbing at times. I particularly liked how the people would make a picture or scene out of flowers and berries on the grave sites of their loved ones. I didn't realize how sentimental this occasion was to the Mexican culture. And who doesn't like the bright colors everywhere!!!

  4. It's very strange how different our cultures are. When someone dies, we mourn. The Mexican culture decides to celebrate with flowers, berries, and many vibrant colors.

  5. I liked watching these videos. I think it's awesome that they choose to celebrate the lives of their loved ones instead of mourning them. However, the idea that they are "welcoming the souls of the dead" back into life is a bit strange.

  6. The way that they celebrate this is very weird, it is a very strange tradition. It seems like they like flowers a lot.

  7. I think the tradition is very vibrant and a lighter way to think about death. I think it's great they see it as a thing to celebrate instead of mourn. I love the way they decorate the graves and personalize it for that deceased family member. The whole them coming back to wash up and hang around is a bit strange though.

  8. It's a very different outlook on the death of people. These videos are very strange and I think that all of the skulls are kind of scary. I wish we were going to have our sugar skulls done by Halloween because I could do some serious creeping on children.

  9. It's just so different from our culture we're used to grieving for the people we have lost but in their culture they turn their sadness into a celebration for the time they were living and the have a huge colorful happy party. It's really different but I like it!

  10. It is hard to understand the significance and purpose of the celebration because it is such a departure from our culture's way of thinking, but once you break the cultural barrier, it is easy to see the beauty in the celebration and its purpose.

  11. It is weird to understand why they do this and why they give offering to the dead. It is just completely different from our cultural.

  12. That's cool! It sort of reminds me of Easter in our culture even though there are a lot of differences.
