AP Art - College Board Access

You will need to set up your access to the AP^® Studio Art Digital Submission Web application and upload your Breadth, Concentration statements and Concentration works.   This is a PROJECT grade. The images should be cropped and edited and your statement should be refined per suggestions.  The Breadth section should be completely full, and the Concentration should be full minus your last piece and possibly a detail from that piece.  Brad Thompson should be contacted for your AP number. 

If your file is too large, you will need to resize your image.  Click "Properties" and "Resize" then shrink to 999.

Art One - Edgar Degas and George Braque

Below are paintings by Edgar Degas and Georges Braque.  Degas was an Impressionist painter and Braque was a Cubist painter.

Art One - Picasso and van Gogh videos

Watch the following video about Picasso.  Which painting is your favorite and which is your least favorite and why?  Picasso was the founder of the Cubism art movement along with George Braque.  Advances in art had been made by the Impressionists (Monet, Renior, Degas) and Post Impressionists (van Gogh, Seurat, Gauguin) to allow room for this new way of painting.

Art Two - Abstract Painting

Below are examples of abstract paintings.  Notice how the artists use color and value to depict the image.  Abstract painting is different from Non-Objective painting.  An abstract painting is a painting of something recognizable that you can name - a person, place or thing.  A non-objective painting is an exploration of color, value and texture only.

Art One - Vincent van Gogh

Below are works by Vincent van Gogh.  He lived 1853-1890.  He was only 37 when he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound.  He grew up in Holland but moved to France as an adult.  He only sold one painting in his lifetime but is one of the world's best known painters.  (This is not always the case.  Monet, Picasso and Matisse were all famous in their lifetimes.)
