Art Two - Empty Bowls

Proverbs 3:9-10 tells us:  "Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine."

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year but when you volunteer, you vote everyday about the kind of community you want to live in.”  -Marjorie Moore

  1. The first quote is saying to honor the Lord with everything you do, even making bowls for the hungry. When you volunteer to help others by helping with the empty bowls project, it shows the way you want the world to be.

  9. Proverbs 3:9-10 reminds me to give and be generous with the many blessings I've been given. It means to always give back to the Lord. The second quote refers to the fact that we have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the community, so we should take advantage of that. These relate to the Empty Bowls project because we can use resources and gifts to serve God's people and give back to the community.

  10. Proverbs 3:9-10 gives us a reason why empty bowls is important. We need to share what God has given us. The quote relates to empty bowls because we want a community that is loving, caring, and there to help if you need a hand. By participating in empty bowls we are growing our community in love and helping those that need it, which we hope that we would receive in times of trouble.

  11. The first one reminds us to give generously and we will eventually be blessed. The second one is important because it reminds us that the community doesn't have to be separated by race or wealth, we can all help out and intermingle and make things better and come together as one. - Jarred Brooks
