Art Two - Non-Objective Painting

Jackson Pollock

“It’s all a big game of construction, some with a brush, some with a shovel, some choose a pen.”   “The method of painting is the natural growth out of a need. I want to express my feelings rather than illustrate them.”  “Every good painter paints what he is.”

  1. I like the first and last 2 paintings because of the way they look and how they look predetermined, yet they have randomness

  2. I like the second piece by Jackson Pollock because of all the random paint splatters. Even though it is so random, it makes sense and is very cool!!

  3. I like all the paintings, especially the first and last two because they are all so bright and crazy. They all seem to have a controlled chaos to them.

  6. I like the first painting because I really enjoy splatter painting. I like how the painting doesn't make complete sense and it is just whatever you want to see.

  7. I like the second one because it is more satisfying to see and look at. It is more interesting. - Gabby

  8. I like the 4th one because it reminds me of an Orchestra or a band for some reason. all of the shapes fit together and you can identify however you want it.

  9. I really like this type of art because it seems like there is no rhyme or rhythm, like the chaotic thoughts of the artists. However, if you look closely, the paintings do look thought out but also improvised.

  10. I like the black and white one, but I relate to the colorful ones more, by Hans Hoffman. I like the simplicity, and I love the colors.

  11. I like the first painting from Wassily Kandinsky because it's obscure so that I'm not 100% certain what is supposed to be there (if there's anything supposed to be there at all) so I can make my own sort of story to go with it.

  12. I like the first and second paintings because they are very complex and abstract and they are very cool to look at. They are very sporadic which makes them all very different.
