Art Two - Printmaking

Below are of block prints.  What do you notice about the process of the artist?  Which ones are more/less successful and why?

  1. The first block print is not as successful because it is not as detailed and has bigger cut outs. The second one looks really good because you can tell the artist spent a lot of time on it.

  2. All of these printmaking pictures are very unique. But, my favorite is the one of the town and the owl, because it looks like the artist spend lots of time on it and focused on detail.

  3. the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th prints are more successful because they are more detailed than the prints in the 1st and last prints.

  4. The second and third are the best executed of all of the ones listed because of the ability to have depth in the painting although it's blockish.

  5. To me, the 2nd and 3rd ones look the best because those have the most details whereas opposed to the other ones, they still look nice but have larger cutouts and don't look as detailed.

  7. I like all of them except the dude because he is scary and I kind of feel like I'll seize if I look at him. My favorite one is the sunflower one because it seems more detailed and more successful because it looks the best.

  8. I think one of the advantages of block paint is that the contrast between black and white reflects the shadow and light, but the disadvantage is that it is hard to create depth. So to me the second and third are the most successful.
