  1. ok so my plan for my concentration is the relationship between a dog and a girl. I wan to not just have part of the piece be dog and the other part be dog but make it fun and alive in the painting. I want to to it be modern and have a old twist in it. Most of the ideas will have a look to it like it is from the 1800's to the early 1900 up to now. I'm wanting to collage and paint all my 12 pieces

    1. You could even (in a few of the pieces) follow the relationship of a girl and dog throughout their lives - example being, the first painting is the girl as a toddler and the dog as a puppy, the next the adult girl with the adult dog, etc..

  2. My concentration is going to based on the idea of the mystery of faith. As limited human beings we are not able to understand everything about God and his plan which is the reason for faith. It is by his grace that he has revealed to us so much, through Creation, his word and his son. I want to express both chaos and clarity through my work. Mostly I will work with acrylic and oil paintings. Some of my ideas include mystery of creation with a galaxy image, mystery of ancient man with some ancient structures, and mystery of the gospel and Christ with a Crucifixion. Also including covering sheets on my paintings to symbolize what we cannot know is another idea.

    1. I love your concentration idea! You could also perhaps include a blindfolded person in one of your pieces to symbolize our lack of understanding of the inner-workings of our world and of God / Faith.

  3. In my concentration I wanted to explore the idea that the world is inherently fallen. Even great beauty is oftentimes marked by corruption, tragedy, or loss of innocence. Perhaps this is due to a slightly twisted nature, but I believe darkness can sometimes add an eerie depth and beauty to a person or situation. In this body of work, I experimented with the concept that there is not only darkness in beauty, but beauty in darkness.

    2. I love this idea and think it is very original! You could use a dark, gloomy background and then, in contrast, have a person filled with joy or flowers or something happy in the middle of it all. I think the contrast would give deep meaning and go along with your concentration.

    3. This is going to be beautiful maybe you could even do a work of something actually moving and twisting to show the "twisted nature" of humanity that you mentioned.

  4. The idea that will be explored in my concentration is the different styles of dance. I will be discovering the many aspects and movements created throughout each unique style of choreographed dance. Also, try to portray the different emotions displayed in each movement.

    1. I think this idea is totally you and will give so many options to work with! You could even show one dance move as if it was in slow motion, expressing each step with a different emotion. So, in one picture, you would have several different steps or pauses going across the canvas.

  6. I am planning on doing close ups of animals mixed in with the theme of celebration for my concentration. I will mix celebration into it by including festivities, holidays, or even cultures that incorporate that animal. I plan on mostly using water color, oil pastels, and acrylic in my pieces. I will probably start out each project using photo shop to put together some kind of animal with a form of celebration. For my first project, I was thinking about doing the close up of the eye of a type of lizard found in the Amazon Rainforest and a small portion of what is around the eye. Because it is a close up, I thought about showing Central American (particularly Brazilian) celebration and festivity through the lizard’s eye. I could include masks, parade floats, fireworks, or dancers, as these are all a part of Brazilian festivities. While some pieces could be more simplistic and realistic, I could also include abstraction and layer images to give it a different look while still keeping the theme tightly focused on animals and celebration.
