Art One - Picasso and van Gogh videos

Image result for pablo picasso paintings

Watch the following video about Picasso.  Which painting is your favorite and which is your least favorite and why?  Picasso was the founder of the Cubism art movement along with George Braque.  Advances in art had been made by the Impressionists (Monet, Renior, Degas) and Post Impressionists (van Gogh, Seurat, Gauguin) to allow room for this new way of painting.

Art One - Vincent van Gogh

Below are works by Vincent van Gogh.  He lived 1853-1890.  He was only 37 when he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound.  He grew up in Holland but moved to France as an adult.  He only sold one painting in his lifetime but is one of the world's best known painters.  (This is not always the case.  Monet, Picasso and Matisse were all famous in their lifetimes.)

Ceramics - Reminder

Your blog assignment this week is to simply acknowledge that you have another wheel thrown piece due at the end of this quarter.  It will need to be thrown and trimmed well before we leave for Christmas break.  We will only have a couple of days in January.  Do not wait until the last minute.  This grade is based on merit not completion.  I will be looking for a symmetrical form with a trimmed foot that is as thin and large as possible.  A cereal or soup sized bowl is fine but will not earn you an "A".  You can work almost anytime in or out of class.  If you want to come after school, just check with me first.  There are a few days that will not be good.  Get started!
