Ceramics - Tuesday assignment

Finish watching the videos that I posted yesterday.

I should be back tomorrow and we will take two days to make our tripod cups.

Today, four of you can work on the wheel.

The rest of you can take one day and make either:
1. 3-5 clay buttons.  Feel free to use the texture plates and add two small holes.  Make sure they are smooth on the back and have nothing sharp.  Use the stamps to put your initials on the back.   Or
2.  The perfect pinch pot with a foot.

Art 2 - Tuesday assignment

I should be back tomorrow and we will take a couple of days to make our tripod cups.  In the meantime, I want you to go ahead and plan out our next painting.  We will focus on landscape paintings and trees.

For today, find 2-3 photos of trees (or parts of trees - roots, limbs, leaves, etc).  Photoshop them together.  You can also add one random item if you want (clock, antlers, pig face, etc.).  Change the background if you want to make it more interesting.  Print it out on the FA_MS/HSART printer.  It should already be installed into your tablet.  We will be loosely painting these so put something together with strong lights and darks as well as color.  Be creative!!!

Art 3/AP - Friday Assignment due March 20

Recreate your version of a master work.  Assignments are below.  Remember to cite the artist and work on the back of your sketch paper.

I want to see less of the artist and more of your voice in your sketch.  Use the artist's work as the starting point but add something of yourself to it.  These should now move beyond mere copies of the master work.  They should now be your own work with the master as the inspiration.

Art 3/AP - Friday Assignment due March 6

Recreate your version of a master work.  Assignments are below.  Remember to cite the artist and work on the back of your sketch paper.  Some of you are really developing beautiful sketchbooks.

Starting this week, I want to see less of the artist and more of your voice in your sketch.  Use the artist's work as the starting point but add something of yourself to it.  These should now move beyond mere copies of the master work.  They should now be your own work with the master as the inspiration.  Fill the page, fill the page, fill the page!!!!!  Make sure to use strong lights and darks and don't shy away from aggressive marks.  Use any material that you like.

2D - Henri Matisse

3D - Pablo Picasso (yes, he made sculpture too)

Art 3 and AP Art - Friday Assignment

I enjoyed seeing your Natural Installations!  Hopefully that was a welcome break to our sketch assignments.  Save those photos in your Art folders.  They will make great additions to your Breadth sections for AP.  This week we are getting back to our sketchbooks.  Put your own twist on it and remember, it should take at least two hours.

2D - Pablo Picasso

3D - Jacques Lipchitz (Cubist sculptor and buddies with Picasso)

Ceramics - Slab Containers

We will be making slab containers for our next major project.  It will have to be made mostly of slabs but you may want to have a sculptural element as well.  Think about it.  Which one of these containers is your favorite and why?
