Art Two - Abstract Painting

Below are examples of abstract paintings.  Notice how the artists use color and value to depict the image.  Abstract painting is different from Non-Objective painting.  An abstract painting is a painting of something recognizable that you can name - a person, place or thing.  A non-objective painting is an exploration of color, value and texture only.

Art One - Vincent van Gogh

Below are works by Vincent van Gogh.  He lived 1853-1890.  He was only 37 when he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound.  He grew up in Holland but moved to France as an adult.  He only sold one painting in his lifetime but is one of the world's best known painters.  (This is not always the case.  Monet, Picasso and Matisse were all famous in their lifetimes.)
