Below are examples of radial symmetry in art by artist Victor Vasarely.
Victor Vasarely, was a Hungarian–French artist, who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the op art movement. His work entitled Zebra, created in the 1930s, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of op art.
What do you think? Which one is your favorite?
"Zebra" 1938 - This one is not radially symmetrical but is by Vasarely.
Radial symmetry is very unique to me. Every picture has a very different design and they're so creative and different. I personally like the 2nd one because it jumps out at you and looks 3D-like.- Mary DAniel
ReplyDeleteI like radial symmetry because each part of the picture is the same and it does not matter which way you turn it. I like the yellow and gray picture the best because it has many different layers and tectures.

Radical symmetry is a strange but unique form of art. I really like the way it looks like it's coming at you although it in a picture. My favorite one is the second one becasue it looks like it's coming through the screen.
ReplyDeleteBrady Roper
Radical symmetry is very interesting. Its kind of like a optical illusion. I like the 3rd the most because its trippy.
ReplyDeleteRadical symmetry is very cool to the viewers and is very interesting. My favorite is the black and white photo because it looks like its moving. - Ella
ReplyDeleteI think radical symmetry is very cool. My favorite is the fourth one down because i love the way the color fades to white. I love the way the artist positioned the shapes in the picture. Lillie Mealor
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Zebra's because it is very unique and I feel like it has a deep meaning behind it. But I really like radical symmetry, all the really cool designs massed together to create a meaningful and cool picture!
ReplyDeleteI really like radical symmetry, i love the way the colors look and how the way the shapes bend to make it appear as if it is moving or there is a bigger shape.

My favorite image is the last one because of the pattern and colors used in it. The radial symmetry is very unique and displays a different design in each image. -kar herron
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at radical symmetry pieces because they all look very different and unique. The symmetry within them gives it that perfection aspect. My favorite piece is the first one of zebras. I like that the zebras fit perfectly together but at the same time are two different zebras.
ReplyDeleteTaylor Gordy
I think these pictures are awesome!! They really draw you in because they are so different. My favorite is the first picture of the Zebras because i can tell there was so much thought and effort that went into this.
ReplyDeletei think these are great and abstract. my favorite one is the one with the white and black lines with the diamonds in them.

I personally like the last picture the best with all the colors and how there four things symmetric objects and how it looks like it is coming off the page. -eden hill
ReplyDeleteOptical art is cool because the images tend to appear 3D when in reality they are 2D. While I was scrolling down the page, the third image really caught my eye because the picture appeared to be moving. I guess, in a way, the purpose of optical art is to deceive. My favorite may have to be the fourth image, but only because of the drastic difference in colors making it particularly 3D.
ReplyDeleteI find optical art very interesting because it has a sense of perfection. My favorite picture would have to the third one because it almost seems as if it is moving and it is very symmetrical. - Bailey Casteel
ReplyDeleteradial symmetry is really cool looking. it looks 3-D, but my favorite is the 3rd one because it looks like an illusion.
ReplyDeleteI think radial symmetry is very interesting and satisfying. My favorite is the third one because if you stare at it, it looks like it's moving.
ReplyDeleteSymmetry has always seemed very satisfying. It's very settling to look at although some pictures could create an optical illusion. i like the 3rd one because of how it can mess with you and looks like it's moving.
ReplyDeletei think radial symmetry is very unique and different. my favorite one is the second one
ReplyDeleteI like how each one is different but is still radial symmetry. They have their own little characteristics. My favorite is the first one. It is not like spheres and shapes.

I don't find radial symmetry to be particularly interesting. There are some aspects of it that I like and some of the works look cool. Overall, however, I'm not that intrigued by it. Out of all these pieces, I do like the third one in how it kind of looks like something someone who is hypnotized would see.
ReplyDeletei find radial symmetry very intresting. i love how it is the same thing but it makes a diffrent picture when a bunch of them are put together. i like the third one.
ReplyDeleteAlthough optical art is very interesting to me, it is not my favorite kind of art to look at. It can be intriguing and very cool to look at, but I prefer pieces that are interesting because of the fact that they're not symmetrical. The last piece is my favorite because I like the colors in that one the best.
ReplyDeleteRadial Symmetry is unique, i have enjoyed making a piece but Victor Vasarely has a major talent. My favorite piece is the black squares, that is the type of picture you see and if you look or even scroll you will think it was moving.

ReplyDeletethe spheres are the coolest ones to me because they make it seem like you are seeing many different things at once where it is really just a ball.
