Watch these two videos
Watch the following video about Picasso. Which painting is your favorite and which is your least favorite and why? Picasso was the founder of the Cubism art movement along with George Braque. Advances in art had been made by the Impressionists (Monet, Renior, Degas) and Post Impressionists (van Gogh, Seurat, Gauguin) to allow room for this new way of painting.

Watch the following video about van Gogh (we also looked at his work last week here on the blog). Enjoy. It's very relaxing.

I really liked how Picasso illustrated and painted people to look nothing like people. My favorite piece by Picasso would for sure be "The Weeping Woman". I really like how much detail he included in the picture. I also really like Van Gogh's famous paintings. I like how he draws the landscapes and skies of his paintings. My favorite from Van Gogh would for sure be "The Starry Night". I really like how he made the sky look like it's moving.
ReplyDeleteThe masses venerate these individuals as some of the best artist around. They do have some impressive works but some don't seem like art at all. For example, Picasso's "Harlequin" is not impressive. It appears to just be a bunch of squares.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE FACT THAT THESE TWO PEOPLE STARTED A CULTURE OF PAINTING IT INSPIRED OTHERS TO SHOW THERE ART.I LIKE THE WEEPING WOMAN ONE.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Picasso work is the girl before a mirror because I like all of the vibrant colors. My least favorite Picasso piece is Massacre in Korea just because of how sad the painting is.
ReplyDeletei like both of these artists and their unique styles a lot. My favorite of his is the old guitarist and my least favorite is the weeping woman.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of Picasso's work is "girl before the mirror" because of its designs, bright colors, and simplicity. My least favorite is "the weeping woman." It looks weird to me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Picasso painting would have to be "The Barefoot Girl" because of how impressive it is that he painted that at 14 years old. My least favorite one is "Harlequin".
ReplyDeleteMy favorite painting by Picasso was The Barefoot Girl because it was a more realistic styled piece. My least favorite pieces were the ones in which Picasso focused on the reconstruction of the body because they were strange.

My favorite Picasso painting was The Barefoot Girl because he only did it when he was 14 which shows how truly talented he was. My least favorite were the Blue Period pieces because they are all very sad looking because of the blue.
ReplyDeleteI Think my most favorite painting of Picasso's was The barefoot Girl, mostly because he painted it with as much realism as could be seen in the renaissance as well as expressing his natural talent at such a young age. I think my least favorite work by picasso would be "girl before the mirror" mostly because I do not understand it as well as Guernica or The barfoot girl.

I think that most all of Picasso's paintings are incredible, but the one I like the most would be "The Barefoot Girl," because he painted it at such a young age and it's very detailed. I'm not sure what the names of the paintings are that I don't like, but there are a lot that really don't look like they took a lot of time to paint and aren't very good in my opinion.

I really like Picassos paintings of people and how they keep a repetative mood for each characater. I like how Vincent Van Gogh has a rural type of style and insperation for his art. - Abbie Burns
ReplyDeleteI love how Picasso's paintings do not look super realistic, but they are more meaningful than the realistic ones. they have more depth in their psychological response it gives you and it really hits home.
ReplyDeletePersonally I prefer Picasso's more cartoon and abstract and colorful pieces because of their originality and uniqueness. But my least favorites were during his blue period because they make me sad honestly and I appreciate his colorful pieces more.
ReplyDeletehonestly, i do not like Picasso's paintings that much. His portraits are too abstract and boxey for my taste. My favorite is the "barefoot girl." It is one of his earlier works that looks realistic. I like Van Goghs work a lot better. My favorite is his self-portrait because you can see his personality through the picture.
ReplyDeletePicasso's painting do not impress me at all. I feel like a 4 year old could do what he did. It looks like he did those paintings in under 10 minutes. I do not think I could choose a favorite because they all make me mad every time I see one. They are all my least favorite.

Personally, I do not like Picasso as much as other artists because I do not like cubism very much and how unrealistic it looks. However, I do like the "barefoot girl" by Picasso because it looks more realistic. I love Van Goughs works and I think he is very talented. There are so many that look good, but one of my favorites is the "Starry Night Over the Rhone". I really like how real it looks and how he did the reflection of the stars over the bridge and water.
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at both of these artists my favorite is definitely Van Gogh. The "Barefoot girl" by Picasso is much more realistic than his other work so it is my favorite. The others by Picasso are just too abstract and look like he didn't put much time and thought into them, though he might have. I love all of Van Gogh's paintings and love his original style and technique.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching these two videos, I like Van Gogh's style of painting more because the colors are more related.Picasso's paintings are too abstract that I feel uncomfortable looking at them. Cindy Fei
ReplyDeleteThey are two different styles, Picasso was a talent in art and his painting were very imaginative. But Van Gogh's style let me feel a little sad when I look at his painting, and also can let me think something deeper. I like Van Gogh's style of painting more.

I don't really understand the meaning behind the paintings but they made a lot of money off of them so that's cool- Jordan J
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand what makes people like picasso's work so much but i respect his work since he has been so successful off of it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I like the style of Picasso more because I love how he draws in painting and the amount of color used whereas Van Gogh blends so many colors which van be more difficult but they are both very talented people.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like Picasso's work other than the barefoot girl. It was amazing that he created something so realistic at only 14. I really like Van Gogh's works and how many different brush strokes come together in one big picture
