Below are works by Vincent van Gogh. He lived 1853-1890. He was only 37 when he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound. He grew up in Holland but moved to France as an adult. He only sold one painting in his lifetime but is one of the world's best known painters. (This is not always the case. Monet, Picasso and Matisse were all famous in their lifetimes.)
His very last painting.
I really like van Gogh's artwork and how he shows his brush stroke. I think the movement from the brush strokes really brings the painting to life.
ReplyDeleteI like how the second painting looks, with all of the different directions of the brush strokes; I think it looks very cool. I also think its interesting that though he only sold one painting, he is still world renowned.

I like how Vincent van Gogh made his artwork more detailed by using different brush stokes to show texture. He is very good at making his artwork come to life.
ReplyDeleteI love the 5th one and how you can see the focus is on the sun and how the way he used his brush strokes makes the sun's rays look bigger and bigger. -Abbie Burns

ReplyDeletei really like van gogh's work. i really like the colors he used and the movement in his painting. his paintings are vibrant and full of life.
ReplyDeleteSomething I noticed in these pieces is that in the 4th one everything is textured with brush strokes except for the painting on the wall which I think is amazingly unique and artistic.
ReplyDeleteI think it is kind of sad that he died before he came famous for all of his work. But they are all really cool paintings.

I like the brush work in his paintings and his almost impressionist take on many scenes, I wonder what was going on in his head while he painted.

I like how van gough puts a lot of brush strokes in his art. I think he is very talented and my favorite one above is the stars over the water. I like the way the reflection looks on the water.
ReplyDeleteIts unfortunate that he died at such an early age because from the look of all these paintings he was a very talented individual. I like how he used individual brush strokes in his paintings.
ReplyDeleteVan Gogh is an incredible artist. My favorite is the third one. It's beautiful how he reflects the lights on the lake. I love the way he paints.
ReplyDeleteI really like how he is good with the art and how i am horrible at painting but to see different perspectives on how it is viewed today and how it was viewed years ago is mind boggling because i want to know how they viewed his paintings from long ago.
ReplyDeleteThe third painting is my favorite because I think it's cool how he created the reflection in the water.

The last painting is my favorite because of the loose brush strokes and how you have to imagine what kind of field it is on your own.
ReplyDeleteI like his work, but I can't paint. His painting takes a lot of time. His paint mixing is unreal.

I dont like his work very much because it is really streaky.... Although, it looks very tedious and hard. -Anna Lako
ReplyDeleteMy favorite painting was the third one. The light reflecting on the water looks very well done, and so does the water ripples.
ReplyDeleteHis painting is kind of cool because of the fact that he does not attempt to make it smooth, but instead leaves it streaked. This also makes it kind of weird honestly. -Micah Creamer
ReplyDeleteI love how Van Gough used texture in his drawings. It makes them look very realistic! My favorite is the first one because it has so much beautiful texture
ReplyDeleteI enjoy how each of Van Gogh's paintings convey a certain emotion with each as they tend to highlight a specific color scheme.
